چکیده

The majority of left ventricular aneurysms occur as a consequence of ischaemic heart disease and healed myocardial infarction. Arrhythmias happen sometimes as complications of left ventricular aneurysm, and aneurysmectomy for the control of these arrhythmias was recently reported (Hunt, Sloman, and Westlake, I969). In contrast, aneurysm of the right ventricle is rare (Weglicki, Ruskin, and McIntosh, i966), and coronary artery disease is not thought to be an important aetiological factor (Stansel, Julian, and Dye, I963). The relation between right ventricular aneurysm and arrhythmia is not clear and reports on arrhythmias caused by right ventricular aneurysms are extremely rare. The purpose of this paper is to report 2 cases of right ventricular aneurysms which act as the trigger for ventricular extrasystoles, and in one of these cases, aneurysmectomy led to the termination of the intractable ventricular extrasystoles.

Ellagic acid improved arrhythmias induced by CaCL2 in the rat stress model

Objective: In ventricular arrhythmias, due to their free radical scavenging action, antioxidant agents are usually used in the treatment of cardiovascular disease. Since stress is considered as risk factor for increased mortality by causing malignant arrhythmias, the study was designed to evaluate the cardioprotective effects of ellagic acid (EA) on CaCl2-induced arrhythmias in rat stress model...

Mapping and ablation of ventricular fibrillation associated with long-QT and Brugada syndromes.

BACKGROUND The long-QT and Brugada syndromes are important substrates of malignant ventricular arrhythmia. The feasibility of mapping and ablation of ventricular arrhythmias in these conditions has not been reported. METHODS AND RESULTS Seven patients (4 men; age, 38+/-7 years; 4 with long-QT and 3 with Brugada syndrome) with episodes of ventricular fibrillation or polymorphic ventricular tac...

Ventricular echo beats in the human heart elicited by induced ventricular premature beats.

SUMMARY In three patients, all having as their only hemodynamic abnormality an elevated cardiac index at rest, ventricular echo beats could be elicited by ventricular premature beats induced during regular driving of the ventricle. The occurrence of ventricular echo beats was in each case limited to a small delay-range of the premature beat. Retardation of retrograde conduction of the premature...

[QT dispersion in premature beats produced by extrastimuli from the right atrium and right ventricle].

The difference between the maximum and minimum QT interval measured from a 12-lead electrocardiogram was defined as an index of spatial inhomogeneous repolarization of the ventricular myocardium. The causal relationship between QT dispersion and incidence of ventricular arrhythmias has been pointed out in various heart diseases, but until now it was discussed mainly related to sinus rhythm. QT ...

Ventricular Premature Beats in the Diagnosis of Myocardial Infarction.

The importance of ventricular premature beats (VPB) in the clinical diagnosis of myocardial infarctions has been pointed out by several authors. Dressler (1943) reported a case in which the electrocardiographic signs of infarction were present in such beats (deep and slurred Q waves in lead III) and absent in the sinus beats. Simonson et al. (1945), Bellet (1953), Scherf and Schott (1953), Katz...
